Psalm 91 – A Prayer For Protection
Psalm 91 is a prayer that is read during the burial service. It is recited seven times. During burial, the casket bearers stop and repeat the prayer. It is used only on Sundays after the Reform of the Roman Breviary by Pope Pius X. In addition, it is a part of the Liturgy of the Hours and the Good Friday readings.

Psalm 91 niv is one of my favorite Psalms. This prayer acknowledges that God protects us from all danger and that His presence is always with us. It is best to memorize and recite it regularly, so that you can build a mindset of safety and protection.
The psalmist used an image that represents God as a bird. This image is a metaphor for God’s protective power. God has the power to deliver his people, even if they are under great temptation. God is a great and powerful protector, but His protection isn’t a guarantee of survival.
