Weiss Distilling Co, located in the historic Whiskey Factory in Eastern Market, is making a splash with its trendy take on cocktails. The 5,000-square foot space is lined with aging whiskey barrels, creating an ambiance that is both industrial and refined.

The building itself is a historic landmark, home to Goebel Brewery and later Stroh’s Ice Cream during the era of Prohibition. Now, the two-story distillery is a modern day distillery and event space that caters to the spirit revolutionaries of Detroit.

It’s easy to see the passion in the faces of the people who run this distillery, which is known for its seasonal booze. This summer, it’s Weiss in the Wild, a jungle theme complete with branded tiki torches and staff safari hats.

In addition to creating and selling booze, Weiss is also making a difference in the community. They’ve partnered with Detroit entities large and small to raise money through special releases such as the Paczki Day vodka made with raspberry paczki from Hamtramck’s New Palace Bakery.
